Farms and Family.

I’ve been a little quiet on the blogging front, but I’m back (finally).

“You have to find that place that brings out the human in you. The soul in you. The love in you.” -RM Drake

There are two things that always make me one very happy human – family and nature.

Just a short while ago I got my happy dose of both, simultaneously. There is something magical about being in nature, away from our busy, everyday live – the city lights being replaced by the stars that wink to you from above. And, what better way to enjoy the paradise of nature than with the people you love. It’s usually on getaways like these, that I have time to think, unwind and reflect – on such an occasion I had an epiphany, how family and nature are so similar – they are beautiful and essential for our beings, yet both are so often overlooked and simply accepted as being ever present. It’s funny how we take so much for granted in our lives…the smell of rain, a cool breeze on a hot day, a hug from our grandparents.

I have decided to make it my mission to appreciate the smaller things in life, to soak up the good times and remind myself of the beauty that surrounds me EVERYday. I should be so grateful for the copious blessings that are thrown my way daily. In light of this I took a great deal of photos on our family trip of things I love and cherish, no matter how small. Whether it be waking up early to go exploring in the mist or listening to the buzz of the whole family cooking together, I made sure I snapped away, capturing the memories through my lens.

I’ve decided to share a couple of my favourite shots from the weekend away – pictures of the little things that make our lives so wonderfully special and magical.
